Tachiliek Milk June 2018

Tachiliek Milk
Acrylic Painting
 July 2018
I did an online portrait course with Will Kemp and set to work to make some rough sketches using acrylic paint. I primed the canvas paper with a yellow orchre wash.
I used Light Asian skin palette colours for the woman who is washing in Tachiliek Myanmar. I found an image from social media about life in the Golden Triangle in South East Asia.
Working sketch landforms, milk and Tachiliek local. I used diluted colours in the background.
Earlier this year I did a week end linocut course in Lowestoft, Suffolk at the paperworks studio.

January 2018.

I used my Leica images of Mount Cook from the Blue lakes and Tasman Glacier walk to inspire me.
November 2015
I was really happy with my attempt. Hugh and Lisa were great teachers and their cats are brilliant!
I combined the two colour palettes from the other paintings I did.

I altered the landscape using a photograph from Mount Cook National Park that I took. I combined it with the Tachileik lady and milk.
At the end I placed a muted purple in the foreground mixed with acrylic gel, and then used pyrrole orange over it,

Tracing of the face and details
I thought I would try the image again, I found another image of a woman from Myanmar, it was about life in the Golden Triangle in South East Asia but this time a festival. This is a sketch on pastel paper.
Prelimaray painting in stages I always make a few drawing of first and sit with them for a while in my studio, then I come back the next day and start a fresh.
I used acrylic paints I lke to add a couple of extra coats of gesso or white paint to the canvas. I brought these square canvas panels from Arteza and pack of 10 great value!
The final painting tok a few days, I stll could do some more refinements, but so far I like what I see!
